Kathleen Edwards – Sidecar
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeros – Man on Fire
This is just a simple ploy to post two songs that I’ve been playing on repeat for the last couple days. Oh god, do I love Kathleen Edwards and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes. They’ve got so much heart guts.
I actually can’t believe I haven’t posted the former on my blog yet since she sings some of my favorite songs including “Six O’Clock News”, “Somewhere Else” and “Asking for Flowers”. They are some of the prettiest, sweet songs that I’ve ever heard. Edwards is a lot like Rilo Kiley, but without that tongue-in-check thing that so many indie bands do. No, she’s just bloody honest and happy to share.
Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes are no stranger to this blog or my heart guts. This is their new single off an album they’re releasing soon. They stick to the formula we all know of long, jingle jangley songs that feel like they’re meant to be listened to while traversing over the southwest. It’s not a pop song, but it’s still really beautiful and well constructed.

Oh, holy doughnuts, I saw this post title in your Twitter feed and was afraid this was going to be about Twilight… /cryingwithrelief
….heart guts?
After this comment, I completely and utterly hope that “heart guts” is a Twilight thing.
I am so removed from Twilight I forgot Edward was a name in that movie.
I thought of Edward Scissorhands, then saw pic and thought of Edward E. Nigma… then thought of hot tea and donut sticks.
I only knew because of Memebase.
