CSS Remixes

CSS – Music is My Hot Hot Sex (Kill the Noise Remix)

CSS – Let’s Make Love and Listen DFA (RAC2 MIX)

CSS – Left Behind (80Kidz Remix)

I remember going to a party once and dancing with a hot nerd to this song. I told him I loved CSS and then he asked if I was a web designer. I did not get the joke. I don’t know if he was even joking.

CSS (Cansei de Ser Sexy aka “tired of being sexy”) is one of the best things to come out of Brazil. They’re one of those bands that you may not have heard of, but have watched a show or played a game with one of their songs in it. I’ve only recently decided to seek out some of the best remixes of their stuff and I am here to share it with you~

You know, in all honesty, I like these a little better than the original tracks. The main reason is that the remixes have energy to spare and really plays on the fact that this is good music for dancing. It also helps that they’re made by some of the best remixers on the internet.

Well, there’s certainly a lot of energy in these tracks, and they’re rather good. I do wish the mastering was slightly less over-the-top, though.. For some reason, I don’t think I’d like to see the waveform of these tracks >.>

Also, I thinks there genuinely is a CSS thingie in web design, something related to Chickens, I’ve heard.

Edit: WHOAH, css did the ‘left behind’ song? o.O

      Consider my mind blown.

@Web design comment: I believe you are talking about Charred-Shark-Sandwiches… or Cascading Stylesheets if you want to be technical, which is what I immediately thought of before reading the post. So I guess I would either a) laughed at the maybe-joke or b) made the maybe-joke myself.

@audio: Music’s not my cup of tea, but it’s not bad.

Fun fact: before I started listening to these songs, my pc went into a bit of a crash crisis, where it would randomly just freeze, loop the sound and die to black.

Every time one of these songs goes into a scratchy bit, my heart jumps because I’m afraid my pc’s crashed again.

    Good times.

  3. Kinda reminds me of Justice, but without all that smug Frenchness.

  4. The vocals in CSS get on my nerves enough to cut into my enjoyment of the music, unfortunately.

But 80Kidz KICKS ASS. I love both of their albums, though I’m partial to “Weekend Warrior” for sounding more gamey.

Yeah, I’m not sure how it happened, but Brazil ended up with a relatively large number of remixes (larger than most other countries I know of). A few years ago Lulu Santos released an Album of nothing but remixes of his own songs (and it was actually pretty good) and it all went downhill from there. Not sure if he started it, or if he was the first big artist to do it, or just the first one I ntoiced (I was pretty young back then) but either way. Remixing old songs is a fairly popular thing in Brazil and Cansei de ser Sexy are pretty damned good at it. I didn’t know they got business here in the US though… What games would I have heard them on?
